1. What values do we hold in common – values that inform our capacity to live with profound differences in the interpretation of scripture?

 Comments:

• Priesthood of all believers
• Salvation by grace of Christ alone
• Great commission
• Authority of scripture
• Love one another
• Reconciliation in Christ

2.  What else would you like to say to the Ministers Council Senators regarding the proposed amendment to the Bylaws?

 

Comments:

• Amen!
• Note where (statement – quotation) comes from?
• Suggest period after marriage in proposed resolution
• We support the intent of this amendment – and let’s move on
• How will they ensure?

3. If God were to show us a way forward together, what might it look like?

 Comments:

• It will involve pain and involve a sacrifice of self interest
• It will reflect His Word
• It will be consistent with what he has already said
• We will be welcoming but leadership needs a high standard
• A focus on reconciliation
• Look like repentance (ex. Worldwide church of God)
• A rainbow
• Renewal/spiritual rather than political
• Looks like:
  • A cross
  • Less fear, more love
  • Focus on what we share
  • Eyes focused on Jesus
  • Focused on mission
