Children in Poverty in Cleveland
February 20, 2007
Honorable Frank Jackson, Mayor
City Hall
601 Lakeside Ave NE
Cleveland, OH 44114
Dear Mayor Jackson,
We are writing to you on behalf of the Ministers Council of the Cleveland Baptist Association (CBA). We have a concern about the recent reports of Cleveland's continued ranking as the poorest large city in America and how this status affects children in Cleveland who live in poverty. We, the clergy of the Ministers Council of the CBA, would like to meet with you to address this issue. We have included our statement on "Clergy Declaring Poverty as a Crisis" along with a brief video presentation of our immediate response to this crisis. It is our desire that our city and community will respond to this issue as a crisis that demands a meaningful and multifaceted response.
We are available to meet with you to discuss how we and other concerned organizations can work together to fight the war on poverty and specifically Children in Poverty in Cleveland.
A representative of the CBA Ministers Council will be contacting your office to arrange a time and place where we can have an initial meeting with yourself and select clergy of the CBA.
Sincerely Yours,
Rev. Thomas W. Gilmore
