Title: Keeping Children in the Center of Our Ministry Vision Lisa Harris |
Workshop Description:
The American Baptist Home Mission Societies (National Ministries) continue to call American Baptists to give greater attention to the needs of children in need in the United States and Puerto Rico. We are called as ‘Christ followers’ to be the hands and feet of Christ in our care for all children, not just some children. We can’t care for every child as one person or one congregation but as 5740 American Baptist congregations, we can care for more than a few of the 75 million children in our nation and more than a few of the 14 million children and their families seeking to live beyond the limitations of poverty.
Presenter:
The Rev. Lisa R. Harris – Coordinator for Children’s Ministries / Children in Poverty Initiative and Liaison for Neighborhood Action Program Christian Centers has been serving on staff of American Baptist Home Mission Societies since September 2008.
Harris serves with National Ministries as American Baptist regions, congregations and individuals continue to hear and answer God's call to care children and serve communities in need in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Prior to joining national staff, Harris served as executive director of Bethel Neighborhood Center, an American Baptist Neighborhood Action Program (NAP) in Kansas City, KS and pastor of the congregation affiliated with Bethel Center. She also served as Minister of Mission Support and Stewardship for the Philadelphia Baptist Association and the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey.
