Brad Berglund, Worship Leader |
Brad's love for church music and worship began when he was a boy growing up in his father's church and singing in the youth choir. His interests led him to earn degrees in classical guitar (studying with Doug Niedt at the Conservatory of Music of the University of Missouri in Kansas City) and theology (Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary).
Brad has written many articles in the area of worship renewal and has written a best-selling book about worship renewal called Reinventing Sunday: Breakthrough Ideas for Transforming Worship (Judson, 2001), and serves as an adjunct seminary professor, teaching classes on worship and spirituality for the Andover Newton Theological School and the Iliff School of Theology. Of this book, the eminent professor of worship studies Robert Webber says, "[This] is the book pastors and worship leaders have been waiting for."
A spiritual director and retreat director, Brad has completed the spiritual directors' training program at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Direction in Bethesda, Maryland. Currently he holds two positions: the director of Illuminated Journeys, an ecumenical ministry offering spiritual discovery tours around the world, and director of Reinventing Sunday, a ministry that offers worship consulting, worship renewal seminars, and workshops on Taizé-style worship. He enjoys working with church musicians, pastors, and worship committees throughout North America.
Brad has been appointed as the worship designer for the Baptist World Alliance congress to be held in Birmingham, England in July of 2005.
Brad's family includes his wife, Rita, and their two children, Brandon and Brianna.
