Jeff Johnson Title: “Spiritual Formation within a Congregational Context” |
Workshop Description:
Utilizing personality styles rooted in Scripture and promoted under our National Ministries evangelism initiative, "Got Style?" developed by Johnson and now in the process of publication, workshop participants will be enabled to assess their congregation, equipped to know what to do with stated outcomes, and empowered with practical ideas to best facilitate Christian spiritual formation in a community context that is complementary to the dominant styles in the church.
Presenter:
The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey A. Johnson serves as the National Coordinator for NET: New Churches, Evangelism, and Transformation of the American Baptist Churches USA under the auspices of the Board of National Ministries. His earlier work includes sixteen years of pastoring. From January 1, 1999 to February 1, 2001, he served as the senior minister of the multi-staffed Mount Vernon Baptist Church of Hurricane, WV (WVBC) that grew to well over 500 weekly attendees under his leadership and became one of the best mission giving churches in the state as well as across the country. Prior to pastoring in West Virginia, Johnson served for twelve years as pastor of the historic North Ten Mile Baptist Church outside Washington, PA (ABCOPAD). He was also in the early 90s, Director of Development and Church Relations for the Washington City Mission, Washington, PA. For two years in the mid 80s he pastored the Clarksville Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church in Clarksville, PA. He has also preached extensively on both radio and television. Educationally, Johnson holds a Ph.D. in Theology from Tyndale Seminary, an M.A. in Ministry from Carolina University, and a B.A. in Philosophy from California State University.
